Eddie Howe: Newcastle boss recovering from pneumonia in hospital

Newcastle Manager Eddie Howe Hospitalized with Pneumonia, Thanks Fans for Support

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support after being hospitalized due to pneumonia. The club confirmed that the 47-year-old was admitted to the hospital late Friday after experiencing several days of illness.

As a result, Howe was absent from the Premier League clash against Manchester United at St James’ Park on Sunday. Despite his absence, the Magpies delivered an impressive 4-1 victory, with assistant manager Jason Tindall revealing that Howe watched the match from his hospital bed.

In a statement released by Newcastle United, Howe said:

“A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They have meant a lot to me and my family.”

He also took a moment to acknowledge the medical professionals caring for him:

“I want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who have treated me. I’m immensely grateful for the specialist care I’m receiving and, after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible.”

While Howe continues his recovery, Jason Tindall and coach Graeme Jones will oversee Newcastle’s upcoming Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace on April 16 and Aston Villa on April 19.

The club assured fans that further updates on Eddie Howe’s condition will be shared in due course, stating:

“The club continues to extend its best wishes and support to Eddie and his family as he continues his recovery.”
