Vivianne Miedema Injury Update: Manchester City Star Could Miss Remainder of Season

Vivianne Miedema continues to play a pivotal role for Manchester City, both on and off the pitch, despite being sidelined due to injury.
“She’s been instrumental in lifting this team, and she’s still making an impact in the meeting room and on the training ground,” said a club spokesperson.
“Her focus will now shift fully to her rehabilitation, and we’re committed to providing her with all the support she needs.”

The Dutch forward sustained a knee injury in October that required surgery, keeping her out of action for more than three months. However, if she regains full fitness, Miedema is expected to be included in the Netherlands squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, where the Dutch will compete in a tough group alongside England, France, and Wales.

Manchester City are also facing another major setback, as Jamaican striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw remains unavailable due to a hamstring injury. Shaw has already missed the club’s last four matches and will also sit out Sunday’s crucial Manchester derby at the Joie Stadium.

On a more positive note, City manager Gareth Taylor confirmed that Rebecca Knaak (Germany) and Aoba Fujino (Japan) have resumed training. They are joined by long-term absentees Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp, although Taylor emphasized the need for caution:
“We can’t afford to rush anyone back too soon.”

As Manchester City navigates these injuries, the club remains focused on maintaining its form and squad depth during a critical phase of the season.
