Scottie Scheffler Delivers Bogey-Free Round at Masters 2025 Despite Unconventional Off-Season Setback
Scottie Scheffler may have had a slower-than-usual start to the season by his elite standards, but the world No. 1 is once again proving why he’s the man to beat at Augusta National.
The 28-year-old American’s early momentum this year was delayed by an unusual hand injury—sustained while attempting to roll out ravioli using a wine glass on Christmas Day. However, arriving at the 2025 Masters, Scheffler appears to be finding his stride right when it matters most.
Just two weeks ago, Scheffler finished tied for second at the Houston Open, signaling a timely return to form ahead of golf’s first major. Now, after an impressive opening round at Augusta, he’s put himself firmly in contention.
Although not firing on all cylinders, Scheffler posted a bogey-free round, showcasing the kind of consistency that could carry him to a third green jacket. His trademark precision off the tee and with his irons was complemented by a strong performance on the greens, including a few lengthy birdie putts that electrified the crowd.
He opened his round with a confident birdie on the second hole, then thrilled fans with a sensational 62-foot putt on the fourth. Another birdie on the ninth further fueled his momentum.
Scheffler’s only hiccup came on the 13th, where he narrowly missed a birdie putt from seven feet. But he quickly bounced back, draining a 42-footer for birdie on the par-three 16th.
Reflecting on his round, Scheffler said:
“I felt pretty good. Anytime you can keep a card clean out here, it’s a really good thing. I had to make two really good up-and-downs. But other than that, the golf course was in front of me most of the day—I kept the ball in play and did a lot of really good things out there.”
With three rounds remaining, Scheffler’s steady start and rising confidence signal that he’s ready to chase another Masters title.
